I've seen some pretty bad spray paint jobs on cars around town, so I've always been skeptical of trying it for myself. However, the fiance really wanted us to give it a try, so try we did! I have to say it came out pretty well. For most paint jobs, the prep is the worst part and takes the longest, but in this case I'd say it was 50/50 with the prep and painting. Problem was the first paint we tried on the car was a 2-process brand called Dupli-Color Perfect Match. I've only ever used Rustoleum in the past, and always with fantastic results, so I figured the Dupli-Color would be similar. Wrong. The pigment coat went on badly with inconsistent flow from the nozzle and dried far too quickly to smooth out and "self heal". The Clear Coat was no better and actually made the paint job look worse. At the end of the day, we could not find a Rustoluem in the color we needed, so we used Krylon. The Krylon turned out well, but on my piece of test sheet metal, it was clear that the Rustoluem is the superior paint. All that being said, the fiance was very happy with the results, so that's all that matters. :)
