Do you think you drained all the oil before pouring new one when you are doing an oil service?

The car is a 1.6HDi Peugeot Partner (2007; ~103,000 miles; M59; 9HXC engine; 90bhp). The car is the same as a Citroen Berlingo. This is likely to be the same in 1.6TDCi (Ford) and various other diesels, e.g. Volvo, Suzuki, Mini, Mazda, etc.

I was replacing the sump (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaXlaRyuOgA) after a turbo replacement (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7S0qDBo314) and wanted to see how much oil is there in the oil sump or pan. It turns out in my old oil sump there was about 425ml of oil left. I did the same experiment with a brand new sump with water. There was 275ml of oil/water left. The difference is due to my old sump being slightly misshapen due to a garage lifting the engine from the sump.
