As obstacles come this is up there, satin lacquer, PPF and an aluminium panel.

Mercedes Benz G Wagon with a small but really sharp dent on the top of the wing.

The PPF was scratched from the impact of the damage, but it did it’s job, and that’s to protect the paintwork.

If we could remove the dent from the aluminium panel, the owner was happy to live with the scuff in the PPF, and that’s what we managed to do.

Satin lacquer is very easy to mark, so wrapping it in PPF saved a pretty involved fill and re-paint if the dent couldn’t be removed.

If a panel is already covered with PPF and has a dent on it, we apply own PPF.

The reason for this is to protect the original sheet from being marked when we’re tapping down.

Although this job was already scuffed and scratched from the damage impact, it still kept it free of any further marks, and demonstrates how well this can work if it was a different job that without any scuffs or scratches on it.

Dents can be removed from panels that are wrapped or installed with paint protection film.

The Stanliner Rolling Spoon tool was used to repair the dent. The large smooth face of the tool is perfect for hitting to the very bottom of sharp pits and dents like this.

Access to the back of the panel is the best way, but in some cases we have been able to remove them with glueing, its all down to that particular repair.
